BLUEPRINT 4D PeopleSoft RECONNECT Live Conference 2025

This week I'm in Las Vegas attending the PeopleSoft RECONNECT Live 2025 event.

The Oracle ACE Program supports Oracle and User Group events all around the world and I'm honoured to be part of that community.

This is an in-person event and it's hard to capture the buzz and excited as we wait in line to get our conference passes, bumping into people I recognise but then struggling to remember names.   People is what this event is about.   People who share a common software application and want to learn, share and experience all that's available and all that many be coming in the future.

Day 1 Highlights

The opening keynote was delivered by Chris Laping, author and public speaker.  He gave his motivational take on how to be effective in life at work.  Be easy to work with, suggest the alternative solution, look for new ways to do things, and few other common sense (but often forgotten) good people skills.

PeopleSoft Update and Investment strategy was delivered by the leader of PeopleSoft, Paco Aubrejuan, Senior Vice President, Oracle Applications Development.   A high speed tour through the many new features and enhancements in PeopleTools and the PeopleSoft applications, with strong messaging about the assurance customers have with the rolling 10 year investment strategy (currently in it's 7th year we are assured of investment 2036 with expectation that next year they'll add another year).   Always impressed with Paco's style, passion for the product and engagement with customers as always delivered a number of  live demos during this opening keynote from Oracle.   Big focus on productivity within PeopleSoft with the new 8.62 Landing Page feature and UI enhancements being part of that. Expect PUM HCM 053 and FSCM 055 to be on 8.62 and Oracle's fast paced development of AI will see investment in PeopleSoft chatbot PICASO halted and the prospect of something new coming down the line.

A packed hour of FSCM functional enhancements and roadmap updates from Richa Dubey, FMS Product Strategy, Oracle.    It wasn't just the slide deck that was packed with new features but the room was packed too.  Watch the VFOs and read the CFO here along with an overview of what's expected in future releases.

PeopleTools Technology Update was delivered by Sasank Vemena, Director PeopleTools Strategy where focus was again put on a deeper dive into the new Landing page. This is enabled with PeopleTools 8.62 and the first PUM release on 862 of each application pillar will come with a sample Landing Page. Technically, a landing page is just another Homepage, but, through some clever styling of the Sections feature which landed with 8.61, the PeopleSoft team plan to provide not only an impressive visual refresh but also plan to bring all the content that a user would want into one single place.  Instead of a Homepage for each Role, think one Section for each Role.  Sasank's live demo was very impressive.

In the afternoon, I delivered a session on How to Make PeopleSoft Run Faster.  I plan to write this up in a separate blog in more details so watch this space.

My last session of the day was a live coding of a REST based web server in PeopleSoft using the Application Services Framework. Delivered by amazing Jim Marion from jsmpros, PeopleSoft training specialists.  The Application Services Framework was originally developed to build and maintain web services that PICASO needed but the PeopleTools product development team see the value of frameworks and now we have a way of exposing PeopleSoft data using web services without having to manually create all the Service Operations, messages, documents, etc.

It's all about the people and throughout the day networking with the amazing PeopleSoft community. This is hard to capture in just a few pics.  But I'll try anyway....
